Alborz University of Information and Communication Technology is a private Internet based (virtual) university that focuses on teaching and research on disciplines related to the knowledge economy in general and Information and Communication Technologies in particular. The University was founded in 2002 and has been granted full accreditation by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2003.

The University aims to provide the opportunity for the flagship provision of Iranian higher education excellence in disciplines related to Information and communication technology (ICT) using a locally designed virtual learning environment as a predominant teaching and learning media. Alborz ICT University offerings will be the best of its kind and best suited to its target market. The University also aims to support and to promote the expansion of lifelong learning at higher education, and set standards for traditional universities in Iran should they wish to embark on technology in education

Services

The University intends to significantly increase educational opportunities throughout Iran for secondary school graduates who wish to obtain high quality accredited university education that is more relevant to the needs of today and tomorrow’s national and global economy.

The University also provides educational opportunities via its non-degree programs for public and private organization seeking corporate training and continuous professional development (CPD). Alborz ICT University also provides non-degree programs and courses for those who for various reasons including age, geographical locations, work and family commitments and so forth cannot receive educational services otherwise.

Differences

In terms of design, operation and purpose, Alborz ICT University is different to Iranian public and private traditional higher education institutions offering different levels of post-secondary education. The differences between Alborz ICT University and traditional universities include;
